Residential Tinting

More and more people and business are turning to us to have their glazing tinted for a number of reasons

Ultra violet light from the sun will slowly fade and damage soft furnishings such as carpets and fabrics and cause leather and wood to dry out and crack. Strong Light reaching into the house is responsible for about 60% of fading. People are very aware of the risks to our skin. The same UV-rays are responsible in part for the fading occurring in homes. What very few people realize, however, is that only about 40% of the damage is caused by UV. The combination of heat and UV can severly damage furnishings and fading them and shortening their life. Our films can filter up to 99% of the harmful UVA and UVB rays and up to 67% of heat and solar gain.

Causes of Fading Causes of Fading

Glare is probably the most annoying part of bright sunlight, it can make working at computers and watching TV difficult and generally is too bright for the eyes causing eye strain, in these type of scenrerio’s we have noticed that some of our customers have there curtains drawn during the day, we have the right film in stock to combat against unwanted light or to add privacy.

Frosted or acid etched type films are also available in various styles and colours for areas such as bath rooms and changing areas. Feel free to browse our gallery of pictures of window films we have fitted through out the UK mainland and southwest.

Your conservatory is a very effectiveheat trap!!!

The same could be said of rooflights in factories.  As the sun blazes down on the roof, the temperature goes through it!  In recent summers mid-afternoon heat can be unbearable for you, your family or staff and even your plants!

No effective answer to that stifiling heat build up

Until now, there was no effective solution to this problem.  Roller and pleated roof blinds provide shade, but can attract dust and insects, and are difficult to clean, whilst the heat still penetrates the fabric, which then filters through to the interior.

CoolKote… How it works.

CoolKote is a high-performance metalized PVC coating, which when applied to polycarbonate or glass roofs prevents heat building up simply by reflecting the suns heat away before it can be transmitted inside.  Glare is also significantly reduced, enabling reading, watching TV, working- or just relaxing!

CoolKote… Solves Problems

You will benefit from an immediate reduction in internal daytime temperatures and less glare, whilst an ultra-violet barrier helps prevent fading and sun damage to furnishings.  CoolKote is inexpensive, effective and is applied quickly, cleanly and with the minimum of disruption to your existing polycarbonate or glass roof by members of a national network of highly trained professional installers.

Derma Gard Films

Derma Gard is a technically advanced, clear polyester coating which is applied to existing glass. It keeps out almost all the Ultra-Violet light, while allowing daylight and clear vision through the glass – making life normal for the whole family. It goes on working day in day out, and its scratch resistant coating ensures it is easily cleaned and needs no maintenance. The film can also be applied to the family car for even more freedom, and is being installed in playgroups, schools, dermatology clinics…

For most of these sufferers, and their families, life has to be lived away from sunlight, often behind closed curtains, and venturing outdoors is only to be done at night, or muffled in protective clothing. Now many sufferers are finding life a little brighter, as they can open curtains and enjoy the sunshine. In most instances, the film can be applied within a day, to all the windows and other glass panels, without disruption or mess. It is inexpensive, and help with the cost is often available through local Social Services or supporters organisations. Your dermatology clinic should have details.

Trying to decide between blinds and window film?

Window tinting and blinds are both intended to cut down on the amount of heat and glare allowed to enter your office or home, it is accomplished in different ways which means product care, heat rejection and the look of your building or home – will all be dependent on what method you choose to block out the sun’s intense heat. Also keep in mind that in extreme cases, tinting can be used along with blinds – which we have experienced in schools where film has been used to block out heat and glare and then blinds fitted for total block-out for white boards and projectors.

Reasons Why we Believe Window Films are Better than Blinds!…

  • Window film will last longer than blinds and not deteriorate. There are documented cases of film lasting more than 22 years. Can you imagine the state of decay that fabric blind will be in after that length of time?
  • Window film does not trap dust and require the same maintenance or cleaning like fabric blinds
  • Window film is much more economic than blinds.
  • Window film makes your room look more spacious. Have you ever looked at how cluttered rooms look with blinds?
  • Window film is more efficient than blinds and can be specified to either reduce heat and glare or save heat in your room, or both. Try doing that with blinds!
  • We firmly believe that blinds will become obsolete as more and more people discover how much more efficient and attractive window film is compared to old fashioned blinds.
  • Window films are safer than some blinds on the market that should be banned, window films do not have cords!
  • Blinds are real dust traps for any room. Why give yourself all that extra work and costs of cleaning something which really isn’t very efficient or attractive?
  • Window film can help against dust allergies, asthma and skin conditions.
  • Window film can increase the security and safety of your home by securing the glass if it is broken. Blinds won’t do that for you!
  • Window film can be specified to manage the exact climate control you require in your room.
  • Window film can cut out harmful rays from the sun without reducing the light in your room.
  • Window film is a much better investment! If you buy blinds now and sell your home in five years the chances are that the blinds will have deteriorated to such an extent that the investment in them was worthless. If you install window film the film will still be in pristine condition and so an asset to the home.
  • Blinds will restrict your view while window film will give you a perfect view (unless Coolkote is used for the conservatory roof).
  • Window film has all the benefits of blinds without the disadvantages or cost of old fashioned blinds.
  • If you use old fashioned blinds whilst they may look nice for the first year you have to remember that like fabric, they will fade badly. They will look faded and worn out surprising quick.
  • Cost – Window film is a fraction of the cost of blinds.
  • Window film uses high technology and science to create a better solution than blinds. The technology behind window film has been used my NASA space programs.
  • Window film is more attractive and will enhance your room/home and can be specified to either increase thermal efficiency (saving you money on gas and electric bills) and/or reduce heat build up and glare.
  • The installation of window film is faster than fitting blinds as they don’t need multiple visits to measure up and manufacture the blinds and then fit.
  • Nothing to break! You may have experienced the frustration of broken cables and components of blind systems as they are comprised of a myriad of fragile small plastic clips and cables and it just needs one of those to break. On the other hand with window film there is nothing to break at all!
